Salisbury splits CAC swim meet with Marymount

ARLINGTON, Va. - The Salisbury University men's and women's swimming teams split a Capital Athletic Conference meet with Marymount (Va.) University on the road Saturday afternoon. The Sea Gull men's team defeated the Saints, 115-90, while the women's squad lost 121.5-83.5.

The Salisbury men's team (2-2, 2-1 CAC) topped Marymount by 25 points and was led by senior Benjamin Overholt and junior Michael Ferrari. Ferrari grabbed two first-place finishes (100-yard breaststroke - 1:03.25, 200 IM - 2:09.64) while Overholt placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.34. Freshman Jason Preston and sophomore Tim Metcalf joined Ferrari and Overholt in the 200-yard medley relay for another first-place finish and a time of 1:45.76. SU also took home a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.44. The relay team consisted of seniors Ian Branigan and Brad Buckley and sophomores John Lorman and Chris Smith. Sophomore Michael Radloff had two second-place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle (5:20.78) and 100-yard butterfly (1:01.11).

On the SU women's side (2-2, 1-2 CAC) the Sea Gulls had two individual first-place finishes as freshman Robin Stone won the 100-yard backstroke (1:04.47) and sophomore Katy Turner was first in the 200 IM (2:19.18). Salisbury was also first in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:57.04. The relay team consisted of senior Raienne South, juniors Angie Hammond and Jessica Krauss and Stone.

Salisbury returns home to host Eastern Shore rival Washington (Md.) College in a non-conference dual meet on Wednesday, November 12, at 6 p.m. in the Maggs Center.
