NORTH HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The
Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference athlete
of the week awards and Salisbury University freshman Drew
Robichaud (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck) was named the men's
swimming recipient for the week of January 21.
Robichaud was the only Sea Gull to win two men's swimming
individual events last Saturday at St. Mary's (Md.) College.
Salisbury won the meet 127-78. The freshman took home first-place
in the 1,000 yard freestyle (10:41.49) and the 200 backstroke
(2:06.21). This was the fourth straight meet victory for the maroon
and gold. The Annapolis, Md., native was also on the third-place
400 medley relay team (4:07.95).
For the season, Robichaud has eight individual first-place
finishes to his credit and two relay wins.
Robichaud is the first SU men's swimming student-athlete to earn
CAC Athlete of the Week honors this season.
Salisbury (6-4, 4-2 CAC) returns to action on Saturday, January
26, as the Sea Gulls travel out of conference to face Catholic
University of America on the road at 1 p.m.
