Jones, Fraley named to NFCA all-region teams

LOUISVILLE – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its 2019 all-region teams on Wednesday and Salisbury University softball had two members recognized.

Freshman Jillian Jones was named to the All-Atlantic Region second team, while junior Dakotah Fraley was named to the third team.

Jones gets the nod at the designated player position, after a season in which she hit .419, the second-highest average on the team. Jones slugged .624 thanks to a team-high 12 doubles and four home runs. The Lynchburg, Virginia native drove in 20 runs on the year and scored 18 times. She was limited to the designated player position during the second half of the season due to injury, after pitching and playing regularly in the outfield early on. Jones was named to the All-CAC second team.

Fraley earns the second all-region honor of her career, having been named to the second team following the 2018 season. The Walkersville, Maryland native had a team-high slugging percentage of .695, which ranked seventh in the Capital Athletic Conference. She finished out the year with 10 doubles, a pair of triples, and a team-best eight home runs. The shortstop knocked in 26 runs while scoring 41 times this year.
