LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Salisbury University softball team held as the No. 2 team in the nation as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its latest Top 25 Coaches' Poll.
Salisbury earned 190 points in this week's poll after being idle for the past week after winning the program's 19th Capital Athletic Conference championship. The Sea Gulls only trail No. 1 Virginia Wesleyan College in the poll, which jumped to the top spot with all eight first-place votes and 200 points.
The University of Texas-Tyler dropped to No. 3, earning 184 points, while Berry College (174 points) sits at No. 4. Luther College and Texas Lutheran University are tied in the fifth spot with 164 points each.
Salisbury has earned an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament with its CAC title, and will find out its opening weekend competition when the championship selections are announced on Monday, May 9.
