YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly softball awards on Monday and Salisbury University freshman Brooke Mizelle claimed her second Pitcher of the Week honor of the year.
In the past week, Salisbury played four CAC doubleheaders, and Mizelle was good for four wins, including three complete-game shutout victories. In 20 innings of work, Mizelle allowed just 15 hits while striking out 17. The freshman gave up just one unearned run during the week, and has not allowed an earned run in her last 29 innings in the circle.
This year, Mizelle has posted a 1.17 earned-run average with a 17-1 record while seeing opposing batters hit just .200 off her.
Mizelle was also named the league's Pitcher of the Week on March 14.
The Sea Gulls won all eight games last week to secure the regular-season CAC title and the top seed in this week's conference tournament, which means the five-team event will be played at the SU Softball Field. Salisbury begins on Thursday, April 21 at 2 p.m., against the winner of the day's first game between York College of Pennsylvania and the University of Mary Washington.
