Softball climbs into top five in latest NFCA poll

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Salisbury University softball team will head into play in the final week of Capital Athletic Conference play as the No. 5 team in the nation with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association releasing its latest Top 25 Coaches' Poll.

The Sea Gulls earned CAC doubleheader sweeps of Penn State University-Harrisburg and York College of Pennsylvania last week to move up one spot in the poll.

Salisbury garnered 169 points, just two behind No. 4 Virginia Wesleyan College, which also moved up one spot this week. The University of Texas-Tyler held as the unanimous No. 1 team with 200 points and all eight first-place votes. Luther College moved up two spots to No. 2, with 192 points, while Texas Lutheran University earned 184 points to remain No. 3 in the poll.

Salisbury will host the University of Mary Washington on Saturday, April 16 in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m., and will travel to  Frostburg State University on Sunday, April 17.
