YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference handed out its weekly softball awards on Monday and Salisbury University senior Molly Simpson earned the league's Player of the Week honor after a two-game performance with three home runs this past week.
During Salisbury's lone doubleheader this past week, against Penn State University-Harrisburg on Sunday, Simpson was 5-for-5 with three home runs and 10 runs driven in. She knocked in eight runs in the opening game of the doubleheader, with two home runs, a double, and a single. The eight RBI was just one shy of the Capital Athletic Conference record, set back in 1997.
Following another home run on Monday, in the Sea Gulls' doubleheader sweep of York College of Pennsylvania, Simpson has hit a team-leading 11 long balls this season.
The Sea Gulls return to action this Wednesday, April 13 traveling to Wesley College for a 3 p.m., CAC doubleheader.
