LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Salisbury University softball team has moved up three spots in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches' Association Top 25 Poll, climbing to the No. 6 spot, the organization announced on Wednesday.
The Sea Gulls went 4-0 in the past week to earn the jump in the poll, sweeping doubleheaders against Stevenson University and Southern Virginia University. Salisbury holds 146 points, just clear of No. 7 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps College, with 145 points, and No. 8 Christopher Newport University, with 140 points.
The top-three teams remain unchanged, with the University of Texas-Tyler at the top of the poll, a unanimous No. 1, with all eight first-place votes and 200 points, followed by Emory University, with 192 points, and Texas Lutheran University, with 184 points. Luther College (169 points) and Virginia Wesleyan College (168) climbed into the top five.
Salisbury returns to action with a pair of Capital Athletic Conference doubleheaders this weekend, hosting York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday, April 9 and Penn State University-Harrisburg on Sunday, April 10. Both doubleheaders are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
