LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Salisbury University softball team has remained the No. 9-ranked team in the nation as the National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its latest top 25 poll on Wednesday.
The Sea Gulls went 3-1 last week with a doubleheader sweep of Washington (Md.) College and doubleheader split against then-No. 3 Christopher Newport University. Salisbury earned 135 points in this week's poll, only one point behind No. 8 Virginia Wesleyan College.
The top-five teams remain at the top of the poll, with a slight shift in the order. The University of Texas-Tyler, with all eight first-place votes and 200 points, remains at the top while Emory University holds at No. 2 with 192 points. Texas Lutheran University climbed one spot to No. 3 with 183 points, and Christopher Newport (169 points) fell one place to No. 4. East Texas Baptist University (166) remains at No. 5 this week.
Salisbury has a busy week, with six road games scheduled, beginning with a doubleheader at Stevenson University today beginning at 3 p.m. The Sea Gulls will get four Capital Athletic Conference games in this weekend, traveling to Southern Virginia University and Frostburg State University.
