This is the first year the National Player of the Year award will be given, and 50 players have been selected to the first watch list, including Kim Dorsey and Paige Knussman.

The two have combined for three All-American honors, four All-Region picks, and five All-Capital Athletic selections in the past three years.

Knussman has been a starter since her freshman year, she holds a career batting average of .455 with 25 home runs, 152 runs driven in and 94 scored. This season, she is batting .467 with a team-best three home runs.
