Collins named first CAC Player of the Week for 2016

YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its first weekly softball awards of the 2016 season on Tuesday and Salisbury University sophomore LeAnne Collins collected the honor of being named the league's first Player of the Week for the year.

Collins has hit .522 through the first six games of the season, including wins against No. 14 Virginia Wesleyan College and No. 18 Emory University. Collins is slugging .739 on the year, coming up with a pair of triples and a double in the early portion of the season.

Batting in the leadoff spot in three games this year, the Sparks, Maryland native has scored eight runs and driven in three. With one walk, her on-base percentage sits at .542.

Collins and the Sea Gulls return to action this weekend, hosting the Salisbury Invitational at the SU Softball Field on March 5 and 6. Salisbury will play Clarkson University and The College of New Jersey each day during the event.
