Johnson named ECAC South Pitcher of the Week

DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference released its weekly softball awards, with Salisbury University senior Rachel Johnson being named the Division III South Pitcher of the Week.

Johnson, who earned the Capital Athletic Conference's Pitcher of the Week award on Monday, worked in all four of Salisbury's wins last week, picking up three wins and a save while striking out 26 in 16 innings of work.

She allowed just three hits and walked none, while becoming the 18th player in Division III history to reach 1,000 career strikeouts, when she finished off a one-hit shutout against Catholic University of America with her 15th strikeout of the game.

This season, Johnson has been named the CAC Pitcher of the Week three times, earned two ECAC honors and was a first-team selection for the All-Capital Athletic Conference team.
