LOUISVILLE – The Salisbury University softball team stands at No. 7 in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association top 25 coaches' poll, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Salisbury went 3-1 last week, with a doubleheader sweep of Southern Virginia University and a split with Frostburg State University, in the final games of the Capital Athletic Conference regular season, helping the Gulls secure the No. 2 seed in the CAC tournament field.
With 144 points, the Sea Gulls are tied in seventh place, with Trine University, seven points behind Illinois Wesleyan University. Tufts University stands at the top of the poll, with 200 points and all eight first-place votes, while the University of Texas-Tyler (192 points), East Texas Baptist University (184), Luther College (175), and Virginia Wesleyan College (168) round out the top five.
Salisbury is in action on Thursday, April 16, against Frostburg State University in the first round of the CAC tournament, played at Christopher Newport University.
