YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference released its weekly softball awards on Monday and Salisbury University junior Paige Knussman was named the league's Player of the Week.
The Sea Gulls swept a doubleheader against Southern Virginia University on Saturday and came back with a doubleheader split against Frostburg State University on Sunday.
Knussman started the second inning of the first game against Southern Virginia with the first of four Salisbury home runs for the day, scoring herself and teammate Rachel Spadin. It was one of three extra-base hits on the week for Knussman, who went 7-for-10 in the four games with four RBIs and four runs scored.
The first baseman was perfect in the field, in 19 chances, and walked three times at the plate, for an on-base percentage of .714 while slugging 1.200.
The Sea Gulls grabbed the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament and will head to Christopher Newport University Thursday, April 16, to take on either Frostburg State or the University of Mary Washington in the first round, starting at noon.
