Softball sits at No. 6 in latest NFCA poll

LOUISVILLE – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its latest top 25 coaches' poll on Wednesday morning, and the Salisbury University softball team currently sits at No. 6 in the nation.

Last week the Sea Gulls (20-3) split four games, including senior Rachel Johnson's perfect game against Stevenson University and Head Coach Margie Knight's 700th win at the helm of the program.

Salisbury picked up 161 points in the poll, landing just 12 points outside the top five.

Tufts University remains undefeated and the top team in the poll, with all eight first-place votes and 200 points, while the University of Texas-Tyler (189 points) is No. 2, followed by East Texas Baptist University (179), Luther College (178), and Rowan University (173).

The Sea Gulls close out Capital Athletic Conference regular-season play this weekend, hosting Southern Virginia University and Frostburg State University for league doubleheaders. The games against the Knights will be on Saturday, April 11, and against the Bobcats on Sunday, April 12. Both doubleheaders will begin at 1 p.m.
