LOUISVILLE – The Salisbury University softball team remained the No. 2 team in the country for the seventh-consecutive week, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on Wednesday.
The Sea Gulls (18-1) received 192 points in the latest poll following a 6-0 week with all of the games in Capital Athletic Conference play. Salisbury only sits behind Tufts University, which has been the No. 1 ranked team, with 200 points and all eight first-place votes in each poll this year.
The top-five teams remained unchanged, with East Texas Baptist University and the University of Texas-Tyler tied for No. 3 with 180 points each and Luther College sitting at No. 5 with 167 points.
Fellow CAC member Christopher Newport University remains in the poll, climbing to No. 21, with 34 points.
The Sea Gulls are in action this afternoon, hosting Stevenson University in a doubleheader at the SU Softball Field beginning at 3 p.m.
