Softball remains No. 2 in latest NFCA poll

LOUISVILLE – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its first in-season Top 25 coaches poll of 2015, and Salisbury University has held at No. 2 in the nation.

The Sea Gulls are one of 17 teams in the poll which have yet to play a game this season, as the top seven teams in the poll remain unchanged.

Salisbury picked up 191 points in the poll, gaining three points since the preseason poll. The Sea Gulls sit only behind Tufts University, which collected all eight first-place votes and 200 points. East Texas Baptist University lands at No. 3 with 185 points, followed by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (172 points) and Christopher Newport University (167 points).

The Sea Gulls are scheduled to open the 2015 season at the Grand Slam Softball Classic in North Carolina, with two games Saturday, February 28, and two on Sunday, March 1, including a game against No. 23 Piedmont College.
