Softball remains No. 4 in nation heading into NCAA tournament

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Salisbury University softball team will enter the NCAA tournament's Salisbury, Maryland Regional this weekend as the No. 4 team in the nation with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association releasing its final regular-season poll of the year.

Salisbury stays at No. 4 with 177 points, while Tufts University remains the top-ranked team in the nation, with eight first-place votes and 200 points. Linfield College jumped to No. 2, with 188 points, while the University of Texas at Tyler dropped one spot, to No. 3, with 186 points. Christopher Newport University rounds out the top five, 13 points behind the Sea Gulls.

The SU Softball Field will play host to the four-team regional tournament beginning on Friday, May 9. The Sea Gulls' first game will be Friday at 3:30 p.m., against Penn State University Berks. The double-elimination tournament will continue through Sunday. The surviving team advances to a best-of-three super regional next weekend.
