LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After two weeks at No. 2, the Salisbury University softball team has climbed back to the top of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 poll, taking the No. 1 spot from Tufts University.
Salisbury (25-1) claimed seven first-place votes and 199 points in this week's poll following a stretch of eight wins last week, including a doubleheader sweep of then-No. 7 Virginia Wesleyan College.
The Sea Gulls are followed by Montclair State University, with 189 points and the remaining first-place vote. The University of Texas-Tyler lands at No. 3, with 184 points.
Tufts dropped to No. 4 following a pair of losses last week, receiving 172 points, and Trine University rounds out the top five, with 160 points.
This marks the second time this season, and the third time in the past two years, that Salisbury has sat atop the weekly poll.
The Sea Gulls are in action this afternoon, traveling to Wesley College for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
