LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association revealed its latest Top 25 Coaches Poll and Salisbury University held strong as the No. 3 team in the nation, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Salisbury claimed 184 points in this week's voting, behind only Tufts University, which grabbed 200 points and all eight first-place votes, and Montclair State University (192 points).
The top 10 teams remained unchanged from last week, with Central (Iowa) College in fourth, with 171 points, and the State University of New York at Cortland rounding out the top five, with 161 points.
Tufts and Central have yet to take the field during the 2014 season, while Montclair State and Cortland are both 2-0. Salisbury has opened the year on a 10-game winning streak.
The Sea Gulls will be back in action this weekend, hosting the Salisbury Invitational at the SU Softball Field. The first day's schedule has been pushed back by an hour, due to expected cold weather, now beginning at 11 a.m. Salisbury will take the field at 1 p.m., against the State University of New York at New Paltz.
