Salisbury ranked No. 2 in final NFCA poll of 2013

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its final Division III coaches poll of the 2013 season, and the Salisbury University softball team ended the year at No. 2, following a tremendous run at the World Series in Eau Claire, Wis.

After dropping their first game in Eau Claire, the Gulls (42-4) rallied to win three straight elimination games to remain in the competition until the final day.

Salisbury garnered 190 points in the final poll, behind national champion Tufts University, which earned all eight first-place votes and 200 points.

Salisbury reached the top spot in the nation on May 1, where it sat through the start of the NCAA tournament.

Salisbury rolled, undefeated, through the Salem, Va., Regional and advanced to the World Series, finishing third.
