SALISBURY, Md. – The top-ranked Salisbury University softball team headed to Roanoke College early this morning in preparation for the NCAA Regional in Salem, Va., that is set to begin at 12 p.m., on Thursday, May 9.
The Sea Gulls (35-2) enter the Salem Regional as the top-seed and will square off against eighth-seeded Penn State University-Altoona in the first game of the day at 12 p.m.
Salisbury is making their 18th NCAA tournament appearance after capturing its 18th Capital Athletic Conference title in a 1-0 decision over Frostburg State University, while the Lions are making their first NCAA appearance after claiming the program's first-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference crown.
Salisbury will then play either host Roanoke College or Christopher Newport University on Friday, May 10.
All games will be available online via live stats and video broadcasting.
In an effort to go green, the NCAA has limited the practice of producing hard-copy tournament programs. Championship programs will still be produced, but for select championships, including softball, they will only be made available electronically, free of charge.
