Johnson named CAC Pitcher of the Week for fourth-consecutive week

YORK, Pa – Salisbury University sophomore pitcher Rachel Johnson claimed the final Capital Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week award, the league announced on Monday.

This marks the fourth-consecutive week and seventh time this season that the sophomore has been named the CAC Pitcher of the Week.

Johnson made one appearance in the circle for Salisbury last week in the Sea Gulls lone doubleheader, on Saturday, against Frostburg State University. The Preston, Md., native blanked the Bobcats as her teammates helped end the contest in just five innings, run-ruling Frostburg St., 9-0. The shutout was Johnson's 10th of the season.

In the contest, Johnson allowed four hits while walking none and fanning 11.

Salisbury (32-2, 8-0 CAC) awaits its CAC tournament opponent as York (Pa.) College and Wesley College play on Tuesday, April 23 in a single-elimination contest. The winner will face SU on Friday, April 26 at 10 a.m., as the Sea Gulls host the entire CAC tournament weekend at the SU Softball Field.
