LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After sharing the fourth spot in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Top 25 Poll last week with Trine University, the Salisbury University softball team has claimed sole possession of the No. 4 spot in the latest poll, released on Wednesday.
Salisbury (30-2) swept its competition last week, earning two Capital Athletic Conference wins and four non-conference victories to earn 175 points in the poll.
Montclair State University continued to rank first in the nation with all eight first-place votes and 200 points. The Red Hawks are the only undefeated team in the poll.
There was a shift at No. 2 as Emory University (186 points) fell a spot to No. 3 and the University of Texas at Tyler claimed second (189 points). Salisbury, Emory and Texas-Tyler each have 30-or-more wins with just two losses.
Trine rounds out the top five with 170 points.
Salisbury will conclude its regular season this week, starting with a non-conference doubleheader against Gettysburg College. The Sea Gulls will host the Bullets at the SU Softball Field on Thursday, April 18. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
