Sea Gulls enter NFCA Top 25 poll at 24

STARKVILLE, Miss. – In the first week of regular-season play, the Salisbury University softball team has picked up its first two wins, first Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week honoree and now is ranked in the first regular-season National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 poll, announced on Wednesday.

Salisbury (2-0) enters the poll ranked 24th with 14 points after sweeping Eastern Mennonite University, 6-0 and then 10-2 in five innings.

The top three teams in the nation are Montclair State University (197 points), Luther College (188), and Tufts University (180), respectively. All three teams were ranked in the preseason poll and each moved up one spot after Pacific Lutheran College (114 points) dropped in the poll to No. 10, after being ranked first, having dropped two contests.

SU will take to the road as they head south as they enter play in the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast held Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2. The Sea Gulls will then continue on the road as they take on Virginia Wesleyan College on Tuesday, March 5.
