Salisbury University named 2009 NCAA Division III Softball Regional host

INDIANAPOLIS - The NCAA Division III Softball Committee recently announced seven of eight predetermined 2009 first-round sites and Salisbury University was selected as a host. This is the first time since 2006 that the Sea Gulls have been selected to host a first-round tournament.

The seven first-round hosts and sites are: DePauw University (Greencastle, Ind.), Endicott College (Beverly, Mass.), Illinois Wesleyan University (Bloomington, Ill.), Ithaca College (Ithaca, N.Y.), Ramapo College (Mahwah, N.J.), Salisbury University (Salisbury, Md.) and Simpson College (Indianola, Iowa). The West site has yet to be determined. The committee will determine the eighth first-round site as teams are selected for the championship and assigned to sites May 3, in order to minimize the number of flights required for West region teams to travel to a first-round site.

The seven-team first rounds will be held May 7-10, and the eight-team first rounds will be held May 7-11. The eight-team finals, hosted by Montclair State University, will be held May 15-19 at the Montclair State softball stadium in Montclair, N.J.
