Brenneman named Division III Regional Player of the Week a second time

SALISBURY, Md. - The Division III Softball-The Newsletter released its Regional Players of the Week and Salisbury University junior catcher Lauren Brenneman was selected as the recipient for the Atlantic Region for her efforts for the week of April 1. This is the second time this season the York, Pa., native has been honored as Regional Player of the Week from The Newsletter.

This is the third time a Sea Gull has earned a Player of the Week award from the Newsletter. In addition to Brenneman's two honors, SU pitcher Kelsey Mills was selected on March 19.

Brenneman aided the No. 21 Sea Gulls (17-4, 4-0 CAC) in CAC sweeps of Wesley College and Hood College. In the midweek series against Wesley the junior went 5-for-6 in the two games, scored five times and knocked in six RBIs. She was a single short of the cycle in the second game against the Wolverines. On Sunday against the Blazers, Brenneman went 2-for-4 which included a double and two runs. For the week, Brenneman went 7-for-10 at the plate, scored seven runs and drove in six RBIs. Brenneman helped her team leading .917 season slugging percentage by slugging 1.400 for the week.

Through 21 games this season, Brenneman leads the team in several offensive categories including slugging percentage, batting average (.450), on base percentage (.542), runs scored (23), hits (27) and runs batted in (22).

The Gulls will travel to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, March 31, for a non-conference doubleheader with Catholic University of America.
