Brenneman earns her second CAC Softball Player of the Week award
YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference player of the week awards on Monday and Salisbury University junior catcher Lauren Brenneman was named the softball co-recipient for the week of March 30. Brenneman shares the award with University of Mary Washington senior pitcher Kirsten Rowell. This is the second time the York, Pa., native has been awarded this honor as she shared the award on March 9.
Brenneman aided the No. 21 Sea Gulls (17-4, 4-0 CAC) in CAC sweeps of Wesley College and Hood College. In the midweek series against Wesley the junior went 5-for-6 in the two games, scored five times and knocked in six RBIs. She was a single short of the cycle in the second game against the Wolverines. On Sunday against the Blazers, Brenneman went 2-for-4 which included a double and two runs. For the week Brenneman went 7-for-10 at the plate, scored seven runs and drove in six RBIs. Brenneman helped her team leading .917 season slugging percentage by slugging 1.400 for the week.
Through 21 games this season, Brenneman leads the team in several offensive categories including slugging percentage, batting average (.450), on base percentage (.542), runs scored (23), hits (27) and runs batted in (22).
This is Salisbury's third CAC Softball Player of the Week award as Kelsey Mills earned the honor last week (March 23).
The Gulls will travel to Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, March 31, for a non-conference doubleheader with Catholic University of America.
