Davis named CAC Softball Athlete of the Week

NORTH HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly conference athlete of the week awards and Salisbury University junior pitcher Stacy Davis (Westminster, Md.) was named the softball recipient for the week of March 10.

Davis had a career game against Eastern Shore rival Washington (Md.) College last week as the junior pitcher hurled a one-hit shutout in five innings to win 8-0 over the Shorewomen. She gave up one hit and struck out seven. She helped out her own cause at the plate as she went 3-for-3 and was a double shy of the cycle as she had a single, triple and home run in the win. She scored two runs and had four RBIs.

She returned to the mound on Friday, March 7, at the 12th Annual Sea Gull Classic as she was the winning pitcher against Allegheny College as SU won 5-0. Davis pitched seven strong innings and gave up three hits, walked three and struck out eight. In the first game on Friday, she went 2-for-2 against Cabrini, scored twice and had a RBI. She also pitched two innings of scoreless softball as she gave up one hit and struck out three.

Salisbury will host Christopher Newport University on Wednesday, March 12, at 2 p.m. in a non-conference doubleheader.
