NORTH HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Capital Athletic
Conference announced its weekly conference athlete of the week
awards and Salisbury University junior pitcher Stacy
Davis (Westminster, Md.) was named the softball recipient
for the week of March 10.
Davis had a career game against Eastern Shore rival Washington
(Md.) College last week as the junior pitcher hurled a one-hit
shutout in five innings to win 8-0 over the Shorewomen.
She gave up one hit and struck out seven. She helped out her own
cause at the plate as she went 3-for-3 and was a double shy of the
cycle as she had a single, triple and home run in the win. She
scored two runs and had four RBIs.
She returned to the mound on Friday, March 7, at the 12th
Annual Sea Gull Classic as she was the winning pitcher against
Allegheny College as SU won 5-0. Davis pitched seven strong innings
and gave up three hits, walked three and struck out eight. In the
first game on Friday, she went 2-for-2 against Cabrini, scored
twice and had a RBI. She also pitched two innings of scoreless
softball as she gave up one hit and struck out three.
Salisbury will host Christopher Newport University on Wednesday,
March 12, at 2 p.m. in a non-conference doubleheader.
