Men's tennis rolls to 9-0 win at Frostburg State

FROSTBURG, Md. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 Capital Athletic Conference win at Frostburg State University on Saturday, picking up the team's fifth-straight victory.

Salisbury (15-4, 5-1 CAC) surrendered only five games to the Bobcats (3-9, 0-4 CAC) in the match, with just one coming in doubles play as the team of freshmen Matthew Ryan and Ian Siew picked up an 8-0 win at No. 2 with sophomore Andrew Rainger and freshman William Niessner winning by the same tally at No. 3.

At the top doubles spot, freshmen Colt Williamson and Patrick MacLean collected an 8-1 win to finish off the first three points of the match.

Three Sea Gulls were able to win their singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Rainger at No. 3, Niessner at No. 4 and freshman Ray McDermott at No. 5 all picked up the shutout wins.

MacLean and freshman James Kwedi were each able to win 6-1, 6-0 with MacLean pulling the feat at No. 2 and Kwedi doing so at No. 6. Siew secured the clean sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1.

The Sea Gulls host No. 33 Christopher Newport University on Wednesday, April 12 at the SU Tennis Courts in each team's final match of the CAC regular season. The contest will begin at 3:30 p.m.
