Men's tennis does not drop a game in singles play defeating Southern Virginia, 9-0

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – In the team's first Capital Athletic Conference match of 2015 the Salisbury University men's tennis team barely dropped a game, collecting a 9-0 win against Southern Virginia University in a neutral-site match, played at the University of Mary Washington, on Friday afternoon.

The Sea Gulls (8-3, 1-0 CAC) would only drop games in the doubles portion of the match, and that was just six games. Junior Shanon Gunther and freshman Sean Ngo, playing at No. 1 together for the first time, picked up an 8-2 win, while senior Demetri Vrahnos and sophomore Grant Hudson played the closest match of the day at No. 2, gaining an 8-4 win. At No. 3, senior Adam Goldberger and freshman Noah Orders picked up an 8-0 win to give Salisbury a 3-0 lead.

It was a clean sweep in singles play, as Salisbury won all six matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores, led by senior Daniel Albers at No. 1. Junior Eric Spangler, Vrahnos, Gunther, Goldberger, and Orders followed with matching wins through the lineup.

The Sea Gulls will take on Frostburg State University tomorrow, March 28, in another neutral-site match at Mary Washington; the contest is set to begin at 1 p.m.
