DANBURY, Conn. – Following his Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor, Eric Spangler, a junior on Salisbury University men's tennis team was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference South Player of the Week, as well.
In a two-week span, Spangler had a 6-0 record while assisting the Sea Gulls to a 3-0 team mark and defeating two regionally-ranked opponents. Spangler finished the span with a record of three straight-set wins at No. 2 singles, along with three more wins at No. 1 doubles with teammate Daniel Albers.
Winning his first singles match, 6-0, 6-0, over Hamden-Sydney College's Thacher Jennings, Spangler took his next match 6-0, 7-5, over Franklin and Marshall College's Nolan Bacchieri. In Salisbury's most recent match, against Haverford College, Spangler topped Dais Nakayama, the No. 22-ranked player in the region. Surrendering just 10 games, the doubles pair of Spangler and Albers took wins that included scores of 8-0, 8-6, and 8-4.
Spangler and the Sea Gulls now prepare for a match on Friday, March 13, when they will host Penn State University-Abington beginning at 2 p.m.
