YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its first men's tennis Players of the Week on Tuesday, and senior Daniel Albers was honored as the Co-Player of the Week.
Albers posted a perfect 4-0 record in the first weekend of dual matches for the Sea Gulls, who defeated Juniata College 8-1 and Bridgewater (Va.) College, which is ranked No. 18 in the Atlantic South Region, 8-1. Albers won two No. 1 doubles matches with partner Eric Spangler, by scores of 8-5 and 8-2.
In singles play, Albers won two No. 1 matches in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2 against Dean Polisena from Juniata and 6-1, 6-3 against Bridgewater's Brandon Larson, who entered ranked No. 24 in the South Atlantic Region.
A week earlier, Albers won singles and doubles titles in the Sea Gull Open, a United States Tennis Association event hosted by Salisbury.
The Sea Gulls return to action on Tuesday, March 3, traveling to Hampden-Sydney College for a 3:30 p.m., match.
