Albers and Spangler fall in first round of NCAA Tennis Championships

CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team's top duo, junior Daniel Albers and sophomore Eric Spangler, dropped their first round match of the NCAA Tennis Championships. The pair lost to Timmy Berg and Pierre Planche of Bates College, 6-1, 6-2, Thursday afternoon at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center.

Albers and Spangler came into the match with a 17-0 record but were unable to match up with the duo from Bates. With the win, Berg and Planche improve to 14-4 on the season.

This was the first time since 2010 that the Salisbury University men's tennis team has been represented in the NCAA Tennis Championships.

The Bates duo will play the winner of Joe Dorn and Warren Wood of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, and University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Byron Balkin and Jake Humphreys on Friday in the quarterfinals.
