Spangler recognized as CAC Player of the Week
YORK, Pa. – Salisbury University sophomore Eric Spangler was recognized as the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week after going undefeated this past week in singles and doubles play, the organization announced Monday.
Spangler teamed up with junior Daniel Albers in the No. 1-doubles match against the No. 16 University of Mary Washington's Tyler Carey and Evan Charles, who is the top-ranked duo in the region, on Saturday. Losing the first game, the Sea Gull pairing would record the next two wins cruising to an 8-4 victory, to remain undefeated in doubles play this season. Spangler picked up his second point of the match in the No. 2-singles position, falling in the first set but picking up the final two to win 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 against Eagles' Charles.
Spangler and Albers recorded another dominant doubles victory, 8-3, against St. Mary's College of Maryland the following day to move their overall record to 13-0. The sophomore went on to claim the No. 2-singles match, handily, 6-3, 6-3, to move his season record to 8-2.
The men's tennis team gets back on the court for its next action on Wednesday, April 16, as the Sea Gulls travel to Washington College. The match is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
