LA HABRA, Calif. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team wrapped up its spring break trip with a 7-2 win over Hope International University Thursday at the La Habra Tennis Center.
Salisbury (5-2) jumped out to an early lead, taking two doubles matches. In the No. 1 doubles spot, junior Daniel Albers and sophomore Eric Spangler won 8-4. Sophomore Matthew McGaffney and freshman Grant Hudson picked up a point from the No. 3 position, 8-5.
The Sea Gulls built upon that lead in singles play, with Hope International (2-10) getting only one point in singles play.
Albers picked up another point in singles play, taking the No. 1 match 6-3, 6-2. Spangler also put his second point on the scoresheet with a 6-2, 6-4 win from the No. 2 position.
Senior Paul Berryman rounded out singles play, as he won his No. 6 matchup 1-6, 6-1, 6-4.
The Sea Gulls will next be in action next Saturday, March 29 as they travel to York, Pa., to take on the Spartans. That match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
