Salisbury closes Texas trip with 9-0 win against Centenary

TYLER, Texas – The Salisbury University men's tennis team closed its spring break trip to Texas with a 9-0 win against Centenary (La.) College; the win is Salisbury's third this season by a 9-0 score.

Salisbury opened the day with a pair of 8-1 wins in doubles as the No. 2 pair of senior Adam Goldberger and junior Demetri Vrahnos and No. 3 duo of junior Shane Gunther and sophomore Nick Mancuso claimed those wins.

Sophomore Daniel Albers and freshman Eric Spangler paired together for their team-best eighth doubles win, at No. 1, topping Michael Reeks and Garrett Whipple, 8-3.

Golberger, Mancuso and Gunther each earned 6-0, 6-0 wins at Nos. 4, 5 and 6, respectively, in singles play.

Vrahnos, at No. 3 and Albers, at No. 1, surrendered just four games in their victories. Albers won 6-3, 6-1 and Vrahnos came up with his team-leading ninth singles win, 6-0, 6-4.

Spangler also took a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 as Salisbury earned the sweep.

Salisbury returns to the east coast for the remainder of its 2013 regular season, getting back on the courts next Saturday, March 30, when the Gulls take on Goucher College, Frostburg State University and Juniata College. All three matches will take place in Baltimore.
