SHERMAN, Texas – The Salisbury University men's tennis team toppled Austin College, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon to earn its third win in four matches.
Sophomore Daniel Albers and freshman Eric Spangler claimed their fifth straight win at No. 1 doubles, winning 8-2 over Tyler Roush and David Smith while senior Adam Goldberger and junior Demetri Vrahnos won by a matching score at No. 2.
Salisbury won five of the six singles matches by allowing three or fewer total games to the Roos. Spangler earned the most lopsided win, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 while Mancuso, at No. 5, and Gunther, at No. 6, each won by 6-2, 6-0 scores. The win for Mancuso improved him to 4-1 this season in singles play.
Albers picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1 while Vrahnos went for a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 3.
Goldberger battled to a 7-5 win in the first set at No. 4 before picking up the second set, 6-1, as part of the Salisbury sweep.
Salisbury continues its spring break trip with a 3 p.m., eastern time, match at LeTourneau University on Wednesday, March 20.
