SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's tennis team will be playing in the Capital Athletic Conference championship match for the sixth year in a row after picking up a 9-0 victory against third-seed York (Pa.) College in a semifinal match at the SU Tennis Courts on Monday.
The second-seeded maroon and gold (15-6) received strong performances across the board as they picked up their eighth shutout victory of the season. One of those fine efforts came from junior Daniel Barnas, who earned his third No. 1 singles win of the season with a 6-0, 6-0 defeat of York's (12-8) Travis Klein. Additionally, sophomore Henry Stuhler's 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles preserved his undefeated 2011 season.
The Sea Gulls will battle with the 23rd-ranked University of Mary Washington for the CAC title on Thursday, April 21; since Mary Washington is the top seed in the tournament, Salisbury will be on the road for the contest. Before that, though, the maroon and gold are scheduled to play a match against 13th-ranked Johns Hopkins University at home on Wednesday, April 20.
