Thomas tabbed as CAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

YORK, Pa. - The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) announced its weekly conference athlete of the week award for men's tennis and Salisbury University junior Evan Thomas has been named the recipient of the week for the week of March 3.

Thomas opened up the new season going 4-0 for the No. 23 Sea Gulls. Thomas went 2-0 in singles play at the number two spot defeating Jonathan Gaffney of No. 19 Washington and Lee University in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 and Hampden-Sydney's Shad Harrell 6-1, 7-5. Thomas and doubles partner Scott Burtzlaff defeated Washington and Lee's Tim Watson and Jamie McCardell 8-5 last Saturday on the road. The two turned around and defeated Hampden-Sydney's Kevin Calhoun and Shad Harrell 8-2.

The award is the first of the season for the SU men's tennis team. The Sea Gulls return to action this coming Saturday when they host New York University at 3:00 p.m.
