No. 26 Salisbury wallops Wesley and Villa Julie

SALISBURY, Md. - There was no emotional letdown for the Salisbury University men's tennis team on Sunday, a day after the No. 26 Sea Gulls upset No. 10 Mary Washington on the road, as the maroon and gold chalked up easy Capital Athletic Conference wins over Villa Julie College and Wesley College. Salisbury (13-1, 5-0 CAC) defeated both teams by the same 8-1 score.

Senior Brendan Kincaid posted two 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at No. 1 singles on the day. Salisbury's top four seeds (Kincaid, freshmen David Lupinetti and Andrew Nottage, sophomore Marcus Robinson) won by the same 6-0, 6-0 score against the Mustangs. Freshman Glorgio Athans picked up the win at No. 5 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win. Villa Julie (3-7, 0-3 CAC) earned its lone point at No. 6 singles as Ben Petasky beat freshman Matt Copeland. Salisbury's doubles teams swept Villa Julie.

In the second match, SU posted 6-0, 6-0 shut outs at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 5 singles. Junior Matt Nicholson powered his way to a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles and Nottage picked up the 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles. Wesley (0-4, 0-3 CAC), like Villa Julie, picked up a point at No. 6 singles. SU's No. 1 doubles pair of Kincaid and sophomore Scott Burtzlaff won easily 8-1 over Ken Reilly and Andrew Smyth. That set the tone as the Sea Gulls' two other doubles teams posted identical 8-1 wins.

Salisbury will look to wrap-up the CAC regular season on Wednesday, April 2, when the Sea Gulls travel to York (Pa.) College.
