SU breaks into the ITA rankings for the first time in eight years

SKILLMAN, N.J. - It had been eight years since the Salisbury University men's tennis team was ranked nationally in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III poll but that changed this week as the Sea Gulls are perched at No. 26 in the latest poll.

Salisbury is off to a great start to the 2008 season, under the guidance of Coach Randy Halfpap now in his eighth season, as the Sea Gulls were a perfect 6-0 before the maroon and gold headed west to California for three matches, two against nationally ranked teams, during Spring Break. SU came away with a 2-1 mark during the break where the Gulls defeated No. 30 Pomona-Pitzer and Colorado College. SU dropped a tough 6-3 match to No. 11 Bowdoin.

The Sea Gulls will host No. 20 Christopher Newport University on Thursday, March 26, at 3:30 pm at the SU outdoor tennis courts.
