the salisbury university swimming teams hosted capital athletic conference rival, the university of mary washington, on Saturday afternoon at Maggs Aquatics center. For the men, Josh Brown and Richard baker each earned individual first place finishes. Brown captured his in the 200-meter individual medley, with a time of 2:16.92. baker recorded a time of 1:02.06 on his way to a first-place finish in the 100-meter backstroke. he also earned a second-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle, with a time of 2:03.44. Moyer, baker, brown, and newcomer jake ryan, combined to earn a first-place finish in the final event of the afternoon—the 200-meter freestyle relay—with a time of 1:39.96. Angela Barzanti helped lead the women's team by earning a second-place finish in the 400-meter freestyle, with a time of 5:08.18. Barzanti also finished in third place in the 800-meter freestyle, with a time of 10:41.58. Emma Tarnosky had a similar day, finishing in second place in the 100-meter backstroke, with a time of 1:11.33. Tarnosky also captured a third-place finish in the 50-meter freestyle, with a time of 30.13 seconds. Maddie Snow, Briya Cohen, Shannon Mesmer, and Ali Johnston combined to earn a second-place finish in the 200-meter freestyle relay event, with a time of 2:07.55. Despite strong efforts from both squads, the men’s team fell to the Eagles, 72-133, while the women’s team fell, 47-158. The teams will return to action next Saturday, January 20 when they host CAC rival Marymount (Va.) University. The meet is set to begin at 1 p.m.
