THE SALISBURY MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SWIMMING TEAMS RETURNED TO ACTION ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON AFTER A MONTH-LONG HIATUS TO TAKE ON THE MCDANIEL COLLEGE GREEN TERROR. ANGELA BARZANTI GOT THINGS ROLLING FOR THE WOMEN IN THE FIRST INDIVIDUAL EVENT OF THE DAY, THE 800-METER FREESTYLE. DESPITE LOSING HER CAP, BARZANTI WAS ABLE TO CAPTURE A SECOND-PLACE FINISH WITH A TIME OF 10:53.08. JOSH BROWN SECURED A FIRST-PLACE FINISH FOR THE MEN’S TEAM A FEW RACES LATER, WHEN HE FINISHED THE 50-METER FREESTYLE WITH A TIME OF 24.35 SECONDS. JORDYN ROWE MANAGED TO CAPTURE A SECOND-PLACE FINISH FOR HER TEAM IN THE FOLLOWING EVENT—THE 200-METER INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY—WITH A TIME OF 2:44.13. EMMA TARNOSKY ALSO MANAGED TO NAB A SECOND-PLACE FINISH FOR THE WOMEN’S TEAM IN THE 100-METER BACKSTROKE, WITH A TIME OF 1:12.23 RICHARD BAKER FINISHED FIRST ON THE MEN’S SIDE OF THE 100-METER BACKSTROKE A RACE LATER WITH A TIME OF 1:01.99. IT WAS PETE MOYER’S TURN FOR A FIRST-PLACE FINISH A FEW EVENTS LATER IN THE 400-METER FREESTYLE, FINISHING WAY AHEAD OF THE PACK WITH A TIME OF 4:31.41. KYLE RUSSELL ROUNDED THINGS OUT FOR THE MEN WITH A FIRST-PLACE FINISH IN THE 100-METER BREASTSTROKE, WITH A TIME OF 1:10.97. THE MEN’S TEAM WAS ABLE TO COME FROM BEHIND TO EARN A 101-101 TIE WITH THE GREEN TERROR, WHILE THE WOMEN’S TEAM FELL TO ITS OPPONENT, 71-129. THE TEAMS WILL RETURN TO ACTION NEXT SATURDAY, JANUARY 13TH, WHEN THEY HOST CAPITAL ATHLETIC CONFERENCE RIVAL MARY WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY. THE MEET IS SET TO BEGIN AT 1 PM.
