VIDEO: Men's Soccer vs. Frostburg State
The Salisbury University men’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to nine games with a 1-0 victory over visiting Frostburg State University in the Capital Athletic Conference opener on Saturday afternoon. Ryan Spadin nearly made it 1-0 in the 13th minute off this header, but a Frostburg State defender kept it out of the net to keep the game scoreless. Spadin finished his next opportunity, however, finding space in the middle of the box after receiving Matt Hawkin’s pass following a nice run down the left sideline, putting Salisbury up 1-0. Peter Gutoskey and Robbie Budd nearly connected to make it 2-0 midway through the second half, but Budd’s header was just a bit too high. Gutoskey then had a chance of his own on this one-timer, but a diving stop by the Bobcats goalkeeper kept the score at 1-0. Salisbury posted a shutout for the sixth time this season, allowing just three shots on goal. The Sea Gulls travel to take on Penn State University-Harrisburg next Saturday, October 6, at 12 p.m.
