Video: Men's soccer beats Catholic in double overtime
The Salisbury University men’s soccer team took on The Catholic University of America in their last non-conference match of the season on Wednesday, September 27 at Sea Gull Soccer Stadium. The Sea Gulls pulled out a 2-1 double overtime victory to move to 5-5 on the season. Salisbury got the action started quickly as Nick Njuki headed in a Ryan Spadin cross to give the Sea Gulls a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute. The goal was Njuki’s second in as many games. Catholic would respond less than 10 minutes later to tie the game 1-1. Neither team could find the back of the net the rest of regulation, though both teams had their chances. Trevor Brookhart came up with several big saves for the Sea Gulls to keep the game tied at one. Salisbury finally found the game-winner in the 107th minute as Alex Eiben headed in a Matthew Zimmerman corner kick to give the Sea Gulls a 2-1 win. The men’s soccer team travels to take on the University of Mary Washington on Saturday, September 30 at 3:30 p.m.
