YORK, Pa. – Salisbury University men's soccer freshman Dolph Hegewisch was named to the Capital Athletic Conference Second Team, the conference announced Wednesday.
During his inaugural season in the maroon and gold Hegewisch led the Sea Gulls in goals (six), assists (three), and points (15) capping off an impressive freshman campaign. In addition to his six goals, the Crofton, Maryland native also added a game-winning goal to his stats with the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over Washington College.
Hegewisch is the only freshman to be named to the second team, and just one of two freshmen to be recognized by the conference. Khalid Balogun of St. Mary's College of Maryland won the CAC Rookie of the Year and was named to the first team.
Hegewisch's honor breaks a nine-season drought of the Gulls not having a freshman honored as an All-CAC performer. In 2007, Mike Napolitano got first-team honors during his freshman season as the last Gull to receive such an honor.
