SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University men's soccer team made moves in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America and D3soccer.com rankings this week after adding two draws to its record last week, the organizations announced Tuesday.
A 1-1 draw to then-No. 11 Christopher Newport University followed by a scoreless tie to York College of Pennsylvania last week moves the Sea Gulls to 11-1-5 with one match remaining in the regular-season schedule.
In the NSCAA ranking, SU made a five-spot jump from No. 15 last week to No. 10, landing it the highest it has been all season. In the D3soccer.com poll, the Gulls sit No. 19 with 174 points.
Salisbury is now the lone team from the Capital Athletic Conference in the NSCAA ranking, as CNU has dropped out of the top 25 after a 3-1 loss last weekend to Penn State University-Harrisburg and a draw to SU. The Captains remain in the D3soccer.com poll, being placed at No. 22 with 69 points.
Still holding the top spot in both polls since the beginning of the season is Messiah College with an unblemished 15-0-1 record.
The Sea Gulls will round out the regular season at Wesley College on Wednesday, October 29, with an opportunity to be named the regular-season champion and the top seed in the conference tournament with a win. First touch is set for 7 p.m., in Dover, Delaware.
