YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference released its first Men's Soccer Player of the Week winners for the 2014 season Tuesday afternoon, and Salisbury University senior attacker Matt Greene earned the offensive honor.
The Rockville, Maryland native put together quite a weekend at the Elmer Lord Classic, recording eight points on two goals and four assists through two games while also being recognized as the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
On Friday against Patrick Henry College, the senior captain found the back of the net twice while adding two helpers in just 13 minutes of playing time. The six points set a new career high for the forward, along with a career best in assists.
Greene would then follow up with two assists in Saturday's game against the State University of New York at Brockport to help the Gulls overcome a 2-0 deficit and tie the Golden Eagles.
Greene and the Sea Gulls head to St. Mary's City, Maryland on Saturday, September 6, for their next competition, as Salisbury competes in the Seahawk Classic. On Saturday, the men will play Baldwin Wallace University at 4 p.m., and closeout the tournament on Sunday against Bridgewater (Va.) College at 1 p.m.
