YORK, Pa. -- Salisbury University sophomore Cy McNeill was selected as the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
McNeill helped guide the Sea Gulls to their 13th shutout in their final match of the regular season against Wesley College last Wednesday, Oct. 30, extending Salisbury's winning streak to 11. In the 3-0 victory, the defense only allowed six shots through 90 minutes of play, two on goal.
The Salisbury defense ranks No. 2 in the nation in shutout percentage (.72), while ranking No. 5 in team goals-against average (0.38).
The men head into the semifinal of the CAC tournament as the top seed, as they welcome fifth-seeded Frostburg State University to the SU Soccer Complex on Wednesday, Nov. 6. The Gulls defeated the Bobcats earlier in the season, 1-0, in Salisbury. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
